 I am Larry Duncan (KA5WLR). I was licensed in 1985 and upgraded to General in 2000 and Extra on 10-06-2011.  I am the ARES Emergency Coordinator and the RACES CLO for Clay County, Texas. I monitor the 2 meter KA5WLR repeater on 146.800 in Henrietta,Texas and 20, 40 and 80 meters on HF. I operate a Kenwood TS-2000 and a Flex 3000 into assorted dipoles and other antennas that are subject to change at any time. As of now, I have a 285 Ft. Delta Loop and and a 80 meter Double Bazooka inverted vee and a MA5B three element beam for HF with a MFJ-993B and a Pal Star AT1KP tuner with an Ameritron 811A, an Ameritron ALS-600 and a Ameritron AL80B amplifiers. I have a homemade j-pole antenna for 2 meters. I love building antennas. I enjoy checking into all the HF traffic nets.

The Clay County Amateur Radio Club meets  on the first Thursday of every month in the Clay County Farm Bureau Insurance Building  at 7:00 PM. Everyone is invited to attend.  You don't have to be an amateur radio operator.  

We have deleted the newsletter page as we send out an e-mail monthly newsletter and it is very difficult to keep that page updated.

Test Session
The next regular exam session is not scheduled at this time
. The exams will be given in the Clay County Farm Bureau Building on 1110 Bridge street at 8:00 PM or after the CCARC meeting.. 

What you will need:

The examination fee (now $15.00) in check or correct change. Checks should be made payable to  ARRL/VEC.

A photo identification card plus one other kind of identification. Applicants will need to know their social security number.

Some sharp pencils, eraser, and a black pen. It is recommended to have a back-up.

Calculators may be used; however, the examiners will erase the memory before the exam begins.

Persons applying for their first license must provide their Social Security Number or an FCC Registration Number (FRN). If you do not have an FRN and are uncomfortable providing your Social Security Number, please visit the link below to obtain an FRN before the test session. You must pre-register as we will not take walk-ins. Please do not forget to bring the FRN to the test session.
